Music as medicine

I LOVE music.  Always have!  Almost anything creative really speaks to my heart.

Music has a way of communicating, with or without words.  I feel it weave in and out of my cells.  It can alter a mood, it can change a mindset.  I have to be careful what I listen to sometimes because it can be so powerful.

I made a playlist recently of songs that I need to be listening to right now.  They express how I’m feeling, prayers I wish I had the words to pray, and Truth I need to cling to.

As I said yesterday, today is a tough day.  This is the song I have on repeat today as I work on some design work.

I like it because it is honest.  It is not super sweet “Love Jesus and all will be honkey dorey.”  I don’t respond well to lyrics like that.  This one addresses the pain, but reminds me of the Truth.  And this is what I am able to do because of God’s sacrifice, His love, His grace, His mercy, His power.  I CAN praise Him in the storm.  It doesn’t take away the storm, but the fact remains that I can praise Him.  I do have a lot to be thankful for!  I am loved by my Abba!

I hope it can bring you some hope and encouragement today also whether you are walking through a storm or not.  We can all probably relate to this at at least one point in our lives.

Casting Crowns: Praise You in the Storm (I’m not endorsing the video, I just wanted to provide a link for you to be able to listen to the song)
